Kick-Start Summer: Outdoor Living Ready

  • May 23, 2019

Here’s to the start of summer! Mingle with us to learn more about how to combine grilling, refrigeration, and storage solutions into beautiful outdoor kitchens that make it a breeze to entertain this season.

Today’s blog post features one of our recent NatureKast outdoor cabinetry projects, as well as three easy summer recipes from our very own Mingle and Studio M cookbook.

NatureKast Outdoor Kitchen with Weatherproof Cabinetry on Lake Minnetonka

This comfortable and cozy covered porch is one of the favorite rooms in the home of this empty-nester couple on Lake Minnetonka. NatureKast Cabinetry was the perfect choice for the custom grilling station and hood, created by Mingle’s Lead Kitchen and Bath Designer, Tricia Tidemann.

“The choice of NatureKast outdoor cabinets in this setting was easy because the porch is open to the lake and is exposed to temperature and humidity extremes,” says Tidemann.

NatureKast Weatherproof Cabinetry truly blurs the lines between outdoors and indoors. NatureKast cabinetry has the look and feel of real wood, but because it is made of high-density resin, it will not swell, fade, crack, or split like regular wood.

Tidemann adds, “As designers, we love working with NatureKast because it appeals to all clients with its vast array of design options.  It easily fits any outdoor setting. Best of all, this cabinetry requires absolutely no maintenance by the homeowner!”

When designing an outdoor kitchen, be sure to choose appliances that are designed to withstand the elements. Tidemann also recommends choosing a non-porous countertop material, such as sintered stone, which looks great year after year and requires no polishing or sealing. Sintered stone can also be used as a grill surround or backsplash, as shown here.

This grilling station features 100% weatherproof cabinetry by NatureKast (the door style shown is a Louver-Cypress door with a Weathered Graphite finish), a Caliber grill with infrared searing and rotisserie features, Neolith sintered stone countertop and backsplash, and a gorgeous custom-designed grill hood from Vent-a-hood.

Perhaps all this talk about outdoor kitchens is making you hungry. As promised, here are some of our favorite summertime recipes.
