Summer is in full swing and we are embracing every minute of it. But somewhere in the back of our minds lurks the yearning for an updated kitchen in time for the Holiday season. Why the kitchen? Quite simply, it is the heart of the home. Updates to this space are “high impact,” and bring joy and renewed energy to family and guests in the season ahead and many years down the road.
You may have been considering a new kitchen for quite some time, but perhaps you stop just short of taking the first step. Life is full. We get it. But based on our experience, the best thing you can do right now is schedule an appointment with a Mingle Kitchen and Bath designer.
Your designer will take it from there, and after your first meeting, you will see that the entire process is not as scary as you imagined. Knowledge is key! In fact, we are confident that you will actually have FUN seeing your dreams come to fruition – in plenty of time for the Holidays.
Every kitchen project is unique. In this blog post, we will describe three kinds of projects and show you pictures of each. We hope these examples are helpful to you as you determine the scope of your own project. And remember, whatever the scope of your kitchen, bath, or home project, Mingle can help!
The first way to give your kitchen a quick refresh is to update a few pieces of your décor. Consider updating bar stools, dining table and chairs, rugs, decorative lighting, cabinet hardware, art, or accessories. You will find many items available for immediate purchase right in our Mingle showroom! If there is something you are not finding, our designers can assist you.
The next step up in project scope would be a Kitchen Refresh. A Refresh gives you a fresh, updated space, but stops short of replacing cabinets and tearing out walls. Common refresh elements are countertops, tile, plumbing fixtures, and lighting. We can also reface your cabinets if you want to replace a dated color with another wood tone or painted color.
New countertops are the most popular refresh element. There are many types of easy-care surfaces to choose from, at a variety of price points. Quartz products such as Cambria, Silestone, and Caesarstone are a popular alternative to granite and are becoming increasingly affordable. Keep in mind that not all kitchen surfaces have to be the same. You can fool your guests into thinking you remodeled your entire kitchen, when all you did was replace a countertop!
Mingle’s Refresh Specialists work with you every step of the way to give your kitchen an exciting new look without breaking the bank.
If your kitchen no longer functions well for you, if your cabinetry is beyond repair, if your appliances have failed, or if you are simply tired of your dated space, it might be time for a kitchen remodel. A remodel is especially appropriate if you plan to stay in your home for several more years. Your Mingle kitchen and bath designer will guide you through the decision-making process so that you achieve your design goals, stay on budget, and have a beautiful new space in time for your Holiday gatherings.
The beauty of a remodel is that you start with essentially a blank slate! Your designer will ask how you work in your kitchen, how much you entertain, how many people are in the kitchen at the same time, and ask you many other questions to ensure that your new space is both beautiful and functional.
A kitchen remodel will likely require 12 to 16 weeks from start of the design process to the end of installation. Mingle’s designers will help you plan for your remodel and ensure that the project stays on track.
Regardless of the possible scope of your kitchen project, Mingle’s designers are an excellent resource for you. They will help you determine whether the time is right for a kitchen project and if so, they will assist you in determining the appropriate scope and budget. Not only is Mingle a great design resource, but also carries cabinetry of the highest quality, as well as countertops, tile, lighting, and more – everything you need for your kitchen, bath, or home project!
If you’re dreaming of a new kitchen for Christmas, now’s the time to schedule an appointment at Mingle.
